I really wanted to like this because I’ve heard great things about it， but I didn’t really connect with it on any level。 I’m slightly intrigued about what happens next， but ultimately I think I’ll let this series go。 I read a lot of paranormal/romance/fantasy。。。。but I felt like this delved too far into creepy witchcraft for me。 🤷🏼‍♀️

The book begins with Blue， a teenage girl who lives with psychic aunts and her mother。 When she was younger she was told that if she kisses her true love， he will die。 Fast forward a bit and Blue goes to a church with her Aunt Neeve on St。 Mark's Eve， which is when the spirits of those who will die in the next 12 months come through。 She sees the spirit of a boy named Gansey which she is told by her aunt that means he is either her true love or she will kill him。 Blue eventually meets Gansey and The book begins with Blue， a teenage girl who lives with psychic aunts and her mother。 When she was younger she was told that if she kisses her true love， he will die。 Fast forward a bit and Blue goes to a church with her Aunt Neeve on St。 Mark's Eve， which is when the spirits of those who will die in the next 12 months come through。 She sees the spirit of a boy named Gansey which she is told by her aunt that means he is either her true love or she will kill him。 Blue eventually meets Gansey and his group of friends。 She becomes friends with this group and they embark on a quest to find the ley lines （spiritual energy lines） and the buried Welsh king。 The groups Latin teacher， Barrington Whelk， is also looking for the lines and he wants to perform a ritual sacrifice to gain all the power ever。 The raven boys and Blue go on a hunt to reach the ley line and stop Whelk from completing the ritual。 This is the main plot of the book and I don't want to give away the ending but it's definitely worth the read。 I would use this in my future classroom because it is a perfect example of fantasy literature。 This genre is great to include in the class because it promotes creativity and the students get to read an interesting book that they can separate the real world from。 。。。more

O livro começou já interessante o suficiente para atiçar minha curiosidade em continuar lendo。 Os personagens são extremamente carismáticos， cada um do seu jeito。 A história e personalidade de cada um é muito bem explicitada nas falas e nas ações deles， isso é incrível。 Além disso， a reação deles à magia do mundo me faz sentir que é exatamente assim que eu reagiria。 O final foi uma sequência de emoções e eu simplesmente não conseguia parar de ler。 Recomendo bastante！

4/5I enjoyed this book a lot。 It was unique and surprisingly spooky， which I was not expecting at all。 This would have been a perfect read for spooky season， but unfortunately I like to go into books mostly blind so I had no idea。 I am a little surprised at the five star ratings， because I didn't really feel the emotional connection to the characters as much as other people did。 The beginning was also all over the place and it introduced all of the characters at once which I feel could have been 4/5I enjoyed this book a lot。 It was unique and surprisingly spooky， which I was not expecting at all。 This would have been a perfect read for spooky season， but unfortunately I like to go into books mostly blind so I had no idea。 I am a little surprised at the five star ratings， because I didn't really feel the emotional connection to the characters as much as other people did。 The beginning was also all over the place and it introduced all of the characters at once which I feel could have been done differently。 I've read Stiefvater's Scorpio Races before， which I may have enjoyed more， and I see a trend with her world building。 She takes her time with introducing each character so you really get to know them， which is great but contributes to the initial slow pace。 The reason it might have been easier to read in Scorpio Races was that there were really only two main characters。 The plot in Raven Boys does become so intriguing though， so it does redeem itself。 I am excited to start the second book because I feel it will be even better and am excited to see more of Gansey and Blue。 Side note: I absolutely love Persephone and I don't know why？ 。。。more

Pasó un día desde que lo terminé y todavía no sé qué c*** leí。 Y ESE FINAL！！ En serio， cada vez que creía entender para dónde estaba yendo la historia， esta daba un giro de 180° y me volvía a perder。 No hubo ni un capítulo de relleno， en todos pasaba algo。 Además de que la forma de escribir de Maggie es adictiva: te daba lo justo para que no puedas soltar el libro hasta terminarlo （y aún en ese punto me quedaron más preguntas que respuestas）。Como todo está narrado en tercera persona， vamos a pod Pasó un día desde que lo terminé y todavía no sé qué c*** leí。 Y ESE FINAL！！ En serio， cada vez que creía entender para dónde estaba yendo la historia， esta daba un giro de 180° y me volvía a perder。 No hubo ni un capítulo de relleno， en todos pasaba algo。 Además de que la forma de escribir de Maggie es adictiva: te daba lo justo para que no puedas soltar el libro hasta terminarlo （y aún en ese punto me quedaron más preguntas que respuestas）。Como todo está narrado en tercera persona， vamos a poder recorrer la historia a través de distintas perspectivas y de esta manera conocer mejor a nuestros protagonistas。 Hablando de estos， todos eran bien diferentes， pero mucho más complejos que los estereotipos que nos presentan al comienzo， y de una manera u otra se lograron robar un poquito de mi corazón。 Desde los chicos del cuervo hasta Blue y su familia。Realmente no sé de dónde sacó la autora todas esas ideas y plot twists， pero se nota que estuvo investigando porque toca temas variados como la historia de Gales o conocimientos esotéricos。Creo que podría ser una saga interesante para los fanáticos de Harry Potter， ya que su foco no está en el romance， sino más bien en las aventuras y la amistad， al menos en este primer tomo。Resumiendo: ¡ya voy corriendo a agarrar el siguiente！ 。。。more
